STEVEN TYLER Apologizes To NICKI MINAJ, Says He's No Racist
November 29, 2012According to The Pulse Of Radio, Steven Tyler has apologized to Nicki Minaj for his comments regarding her judging ability on "American Idol". Tyler said that Nicki "would have sent [Bob Dylan] to the cornfield" if he had appeared on the show — insinuating that she doesn't know much about rock music. In true Nicki fashion, the rap diva responded on Twitter, saying, "That's a racist comment. You assume that I wouldn't have liked Bob Dylan??? why? black? rapper? what? go fuck yourself and worry about yourself babe."
Tyler responded on Canadian show "eTalk" (see video below),saying, "I apologize if it was taken wrong, Nicki . . . but I am the farthest from [being a racist]. I am the last thing on this planet as far as being a racist. I don't know where she got that out of me saying I'm not sure how she would've judged Bob Dylan. Maybe I spoke out of turn. But a racist I'm not, Nicki."
Tyler announced his departure from "Idol" in July after serving as a judge for two seasons on the hit Fox program. The AEROSMITH frontman explained that he wanted to refocus on his music career.
Although he seemed to enjoy his two-year stint on "American Idol", Tyler recently admitted that the show was actually "not my cup of tea." He said he only signed up for the show because he was feuding with his AEROSMITH bandmates and it was "something to do while the storm blew by."
